Mental health crises don’t belong in handcuffs.

RIDECARE began with a simple but powerful mission: to replace trauma with compassion during psychiatric emergencies. For years, individuals in crisis were transported by law enforcement, often in handcuffs and patrol cars. This approach unintentionally caused harm and discouraged people from seeking help.

This is where RIDECARE stepped in.

That’s where RIDECARE stepped in.

In partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, we launched one of the nation’s first alternative transportation systems for

mental health and behavioral health crises. Our unmarked vehicles, operated by specially trained professionals, provide safe, calm, and person-centered transport to treatment facilities without adding trauma to an already difficult experience.

And it is making a real difference.

What started in Oklahoma is now expanding quickly. We currently serve communities across southern Kansas, parts of Arkansas, Missouri, and Texas, and we recently opened a new satellite shop in Houma, Louisiana. States across the region are recognizing the urgent need for trauma-informed transportation, and RIDECARE is ready to meet that need, one community at a time.

Because when we treat people with dignity, we change the outcome.
